It finally happened. Linux gamers on Steam as of the Steam Hardware & Software Survey for October 2025 have crossed over the elusive 3% mark.

I've moved #Luanti #ContentDB to a new host. If you've had issues with it being slow to load before, please check again. I believe this particularly affects US users
It was previously hosted on a netcup virtual dedicated server and is now on a Contabo VPS. Whilst the specs are comparable on paper, the networking performance seems to be much better now
I find it very significant that with all the billions poured into LLM research and development, the one thing it actually does surprisingly well — autocomplete — still sucks pretty much everywhere, because of course we are not using it there.
Been day dreaming about the BASIC space travel game over the weekend.
I may be able to simulate large distances with scalars instead of vectors, making the coding a lot easier.
My intention is to require players to have the game on for hours at a time, travelling the cosmos.
I will implement a save feature as well.
There will be fast travel, but discovering new systems will require a wait of perhaps 20 minutes.
my 7yo's bestie on the other side of the world wants to play minecraft together. soliciting advice:
- how is voice chat typically done these days? last time i looked mumble was the best thing that worked on linux. discord? steam?
- i'm a computer toucher, i can host software. is it advantageous to host my own minecraft server for them? or will normies find that weird and difficult
- do they both need paid minecraft accounts? if i host, do they need to log in?
- "java" or "bedrock" edition wtf??
Why do the team with bats not simply beat up the team with gloves? They only have one projectile weapon.

well, i'm glad that person learned how to implement multitasking on a machine without inherent support for it, but... it's not like the Z80 multitasking - even pre-emptively - is a particularly novel concept.

(yes this is absolutely real, i will post a video in a bit)
You don’t need to use a password anymore, you just need like six different devices to talk to each other while you take a picture of them with a seventh, at an hour and minute corresponding to a verification code sent to you by psychic energies.
Is there special type of #ActivityPub status, which would have attributes of calendar event (date and time from - to), it's plain text portion would be capable of being viewed in normal #Fediverse clients, but at the same time, it would be presented as calendar, with chance for Fediverse accounts to join the event?
Joining by fav would be the easiest way, but perhaps there could be some mechanism, maintaimed by the instance hosting the event in the same way as polls, but different. Compatible ActivityPub clients would be able to show participants (joining publicly or privately would be nice... joining event may be special type of reply?)
when i was a kid i had this oracle called "ask the ipod" where i'd ask some question to my ipod and then hit shuffle and whatever song came on was the ipod oracle's answer. and imo this is a lot better than ai
