Just realised Scheme was made by someone named Guy L. Steele, and then someone came along and wrote an extension language that implements scheme called Guile with in classic gnu fashion is a backronym but also happens to sound like Guy's name. Guile is also a word meaning intelligent but deceitful so is a loose synonym for scheme. I love programmers...

Boost this toot if you're planning on sticking around Mastodon whether or not it's more popular than Bluesky.
#links2gang would like to get in on this bluesky v mastodon argument
the left example is only possible thanks to @carcosa and their #brutaldon project, which makes mastodon usable in pretty much any browser out there.
thank you for your attention
disclaimer: #links2gang does not endorse mastodon or its subsidiaries. #links2gang is just happy to be able to use mastodon.
A rare copy for sale of "Lisp Style and Design" by Molly Miller and Eric Benson (Digital Press, 1990), a great book cited by Paul Graham in On Lisp that covers often overlooked topics. All the proceeds will be donated to the Medley Interlisp Project.
Which of the following would you say is more representative of your views? (asking for a politician)
Boost for reach, please.

It's not just the #SAMCoupe I develop for. Part of my stand at RetroFest2024 showcased my peripherals for #RC2014 & Compatibles.
- Graphic OLED Interface
- SID Soundchip Interface
- ZXTT (ZX True Tone)
- Bus interface to use RC peripherals on #ZXSpectrum

How do Force Ghosts get around? Do they travel instantaneously or are they limited to light speed? Do they have to take ships? How did Obi Wan find Luke on Hoth, did he take five years to toodle along from Alderaan at the speed of light? Could you use force ghosts to corner the market in Frozen Jogan Fruit Juice concentrate futures? Could a force ghost help you clean out Lechiffre the Hutt at Sabacc?
oh yeah, it's slooooww
getting baba is you vibes, weirdly
hold on a few minutes, i am going to correct the colours to make them look a bit more familiar to what the symbols represent...
been having thoughts about bag quest
i think it would be particularly onerous to require the user to have to define each bag. i would like to prioritise actually playing the game.
to this end i may just RNG different distributions of the various items among the 10 different bags that you can have.
the problem with this particular course of action is that it leads to undefined behaviour--you simply won't know which bag you will be able to go into from which previous bag
I've finally finished up restoring the Osborne 1 enough to put it away. Done:
- Repaired CRT (recapped, reflowed bad solder joints)
- Deep clean of case, keys
- Cleaned bright/contrast pots
- Replaced bad PSU with modern Mean Well
- New cable harnesses for PSU
- Cleaned FDDs
- Filled empty drive bay
i am seemingly still obsessed with 80s microcomputers
especially the commodore 64, which is just such a friendly lil puter
@fkinoshita joy!!
We've had a lot of new people join the fediverse over the past week or so, so here's some advice from someone who's been here since 2016:
There's no algorithm. You have to actually work at filling your feed with the content you want to see. What this means is:
FOLLOW PEOPLE. Find folk who look interesting, follow them.
FOLLOW HASHTAGS. Try typing a hashtag relevant to your interests - e.g. Sheep - into the search box. Scroll down to hashtags. Click the Sheep hashtag. Click 'Follow hashtag'.
