@liaizon you forgot nixos alas :D

@liaizon fsf is probably the least bad org on the list because stallman isn't far right, he's just a weirdo who doesn't get boundaries

@liaizon stallman sucks but he ain't a cop, a landlord, a business person, or a fascist politician

@burnoutqueen yeah I agree with this, I should have replaced his position with the nix os military thing

@liaizon @burnoutqueen I need context for nixos...

@vidak @liaizon what's up with arduino? I know it was just acquired by qualcomm

@liaizon @burnoutqueen at least they didn't doubled down on that....

@JoannaCanFixIT @burnoutqueen it took a *while* and there was lots of fighting

@JoannaCanFixIT @burnoutqueen but yes glad to see it had a positive outcome

@liaizon also euro ban on phone bootloaders.
effing bleak.

@liaizon
I wanna read more about every item on the list πŸ˜…

sexualized violence

@burnoutqueen @liaizon okay but didn't stallman enter apologetics for people who went to the Epstein rape island and wasn't it common knowledge where he worked that no woman should ever be alone with him

sexualized violence

@schratze @liaizon

I didn't say he was good

sexualized violence

@burnoutqueen @liaizon yeah Idk if he's actually a rapist, but if he is, that makes him worse than an average landlord or businessman in my book.

sexualized violence

@schratze @liaizon

I don't like stallman, to be clear. I'm not defending his track record of abuse and sexual harassment. I'm just saying, this pales in comparison to the other companies, which have shown themselves to support the agenda of the US government, the military industrial complex, and the surveillance state, which are institutions that have caused mass deaths and privacy violations and continue to do so

@elilla yeah it was definitely a massive oversight on my part won't happen again

@liaizon ugghhhhhh why can't there be any good messengers besides signal

("good" being defined as "e2ee and all that good stuff, but just as importantly, i can create as many accounts as i want, i can make bots, and message history can be synced between devices")

@liaizon

aww shiiiit wtfs happening with foss community here

@liaizon ugh, I didn't know thta about element

@qkslvrwolf here's their lovely message directly to me :) https://mastodon.matrix.org/@element/110340953550548309

@liaizon @JoannaCanFixIT @burnoutqueen Unfortunately there's now Anduril employees on the steering committee and the founder of Anduril is openly chatting with DHH about taking over the NixOS project/community, all the while project governance has refused to even *try* to prevent any of this, so I don't know about that...

@joepie91 @JoannaCanFixIT @burnoutqueen oh shit I did NOT know this. Care to share any links to more info about the current state of this?

@liaizon you forgot @fdroidorg making a post telling everyone how proud they were of brave browser for becoming available on F-Droid even though it wasn't FOSS, and then arguing that making a post on their social media and providing a link to the private repo did not constitute promotion

@keengrasp @liaizon How did I not hear about the bootloader unlock ban until now? Fuckity fuck. Is the EU losing its whole effing mind? This, and the never-dying "chat control" surveillance zombie. Ugh. I'm fast becoming an anarchist down this path.

@twilliability @liaizon per Shine's linked article above, it's more an issue of Samsung trying to spin its own enshittification policy as something EU-mandated and inevitable, by twisting and misrepresenting what the EU directive actually said.
I'm sure some EU govts and regulators are of a mind to let Samsung trample consumer rights as much as they wish, but despite the confusing coverage I'd heard, this particular EU directive actually doesn't kill bootloader unlocking.

@liaizon raspberry pi what

@indigoviolet it was a whole thing, I'm sure you can easily find articles about it. They really dug themselves into the sand after and did a bunch of interviews were they were like we are being targeted by those woke radicles who don't believe in free speech

@liaizon oh goodness you weren’t kidding

@liaizon Mind you it was 3 years ago, not β€œrecent” by any means

@indigoviolet this is a shit post and also three years is still recent history
