i think about the on-boarding process to free software / linux (whatever) a lot.

perhaps the difficulty curve is too steep--despite our lack of trying to address this.

if the curve is too steep, do we lower the curve? or better equip people to tackle the challenges?

at this point i cannot help but think the problem cannot be approached on an individual basis.

we need a community, no-one is an island, we are not robinson crusoes...
