I wonder what the most common current BASIC implementation is.

Been thinking about BASIC zines.

Hmmm...

https://wiki.debian.org/ProgrammingLanguage#BASIC

BASIC implementations packaged by debian 12:

  • FreeBasic (libfreebasic already packaged, fbc not yet. Very Microsoft QBasic compatible (graphics))

  • brandy (BBC BASIC)

  • bwbasic (Bywater BASIC)

  • Scriba

  • pcbasic (GW-BASIC compatible basic interpreter)

  • yabasic

  • qb64

@vidak
yabasic is pretty good, generally 8-bit MS BASIC compatible.

Not packaged there, but very compatible, is Chipmunk:

@vidak I was told there is a c64 basic for modern computers

@notptr @vidak There's BBC BASIC for lots of modern computers too.
