@mhd
Would it all go under man6, or is the character sheet man5? Where do encounters go?
@malin Player rules -> 1, DM stuff -> 2, monsters -> 4.
But seriously, if one were to actually do that, I'd opt for a custom section.
@vidak I'll look into it when I get around to do my telnet VTT...
@mhd 😊
@mhd custom section? We only have the 9. There are no more numbers.
But if someone has it in Markdown format, you can translate automatically through lowdown. It'd just need some headers for metadata.
@malin If it's not an OSR SRD, I can use man page features from the 80s ;)
@mhd The troff -man macro package is really good for screen rendering. Getting your edition of choice into it is a Small Matter of Editing. Many retroclones are available in RTF already, these days more often people choose markdown, both easy to search/replace.
@mhd ???
Which man page features from the 80's work with non-OSR RPGs specifically?
@malin I meant non-numeric sections becoming common.
@malin I assume that's when it started, as SysV had "1m" for admin commands.
These days, you get a lot of overlap in section 3, as it's not just C functions in there, and you can have a lot of overlap. So you get "3tcl", "3pm" etc.
@mhd
man 4hp
man 6dr
Okay - I could see it.
I'll add 'man 6 bind' - this definitely won't cause any confusion.
@mdhughes man fireball
has a certain appeal.
Now I do wonder what's the correct RPG for Amiga Guide...
@mhd Actually, now I think about it, there were a few hypertext AD&D manuals back in the day.

and SSI's thing:

But the DOS one I used under OS/2, I can't find offhand. It had all the text of PHB, DMG, MM, MM2 copied, and a big database you could search. All I was using it for was MM, in my hacked Palladium/OD&D games.
