The kids wanted to play Minecraft together and I nearly flipped tables after dealing with the launcher/ M$ account shit etc. for 2 minutes. 🤯 Just NO. But.. It took me 5 minutes to learn Minetest / Luanti exists, download and run two copies, create a LAN game on one notebook and join it on another. Great experience.. zero bullshit - just a folder with the game files, a client.exe - Zen! 😌 Thanks to @Luanti and all the people working on this! 💙

@jlsksr @Luanti Can you tell me what kind of experience your children went for? (as in, did you just stick with core or did you go with a build ghat used something like Mineclone/VoxelLibre?

@Catwoman69y2k @Luanti Sure.. 6yo daughter just wanted to build something with her brother, so Minetest was enough. 9yo son missed the more comprehensive Minecraft experience he's used to, so he tried Mineclone/VoxelLibre and was nearly satisfied. TBH.. of course I'm competing here with everything he's used to from the big players.. 1996 was way more DIY.. for the better if you'd ask me. 😉

@jlsksr @Luanti

Dated pic, but this Luanti level has a secret room inside that my oldest son built for his little brother.

The old game Minetest, now renamed Luanti, running on GNU/Linux. On this level, there is a giant 3-D Bluey building standing on the sand. There is a lake in the background, and green grass.

@jdkiser @Luanti sorry.. I'm really not into this stuff. This world is on a public server?

It's been about 10 years, or more, which I'm enjoying CTF. It's kid friendly including the language:
