You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. ~winnie-the-pooh

Just found an old CD burner and blank disks that still worked despite being at least 15 years old. Burned my Bandcamp acquisitions to a disk for my car CD player. I’d forgotten how good it felt to render digital possessions into physical form. Kids these days who’ve never done it are missing out

One of the best things about fediverse is we don't have a CEO.

There's Gargamel, and we all think he's a dumbass, even the fools who use his personal badly-run servers. If you don't want to use his software, you can switch to gotosocial or a few other server types entirely, and it still works.

No gods, kings, or CEOs.

Some players build astounding bases in No Man's Sky. I dug an archaeological site.

Perfect example of why Guix just needs to include stock Linux and ditch Linux-libre: https://lobste.rs/c/mbtxry

New users have no idea why their wifi doesn't work and then detractors use it against us. Every Guix thread outside official channels since the beginning of the project has been dominated by this issue and it overshadows all the good things Guix does.

A friend of mine has a question about and kinda frustrated that no one's answered on official forum. Asked to consult with higher beings

Where's the best place to ask on hoot? Irc?

Been thinking about:

  • BASIC
  • Common Lisp
  • Virtual pets (again)
  • text editors from 70s and 80s magazines
  • my protest community

old dwarf fortress bug i miss - being able to sell traders individual bees

today i learned:

  • brits purchase/dispense fuel in litres
  • brits measure fuel efficiency in miles per gallon
  • the british gallon is slightly different to the american gallon

Bav is Twinkle's best friend and roadie! Her space van will take them anywhere, with minimal speeding tickets!

"Why did you guys even ask then?"

A page of anxious guys all looking away from the viewer. Each is drawn with crayon in harsh contrasting colors against a pink background with jagged blue scribbles. Each has a toothy grins as music blast. A gator looking guy says "Hey uh... can you like," trailing off to let a dog thing say "stop having so many problems?" A blue furry guy adds "It's ruining the vibe...".

Woke up my to find one of my desktop pictures (the active one, they rotate every 5 minutes) had just corrupted itself. No change in its modification date, loading it into image editors - shows the black as white. shows the whole image as grey. shows the image as attached. Loading it into Mona, my mastodon client, the whole image shows up undamaged (and possibly scaled), so I had to take a screencap to post this.

A screen capture of an image from the videogame Stray. All but a narrow band of the image has been lost and is rendered as black. the dividing line between them is a thin band of coloured noise.

@izzy gehhh if that's the case I think I might either have to use CLIM or give up on the idea of editing the text in common lisp. The purpose of the project is to make hypertext linking documents anyway, so maybe I will just make a lil browser, and you load in files that you have already created.

Been noodling around in my lil common lisp text editor a bit

I am having a little difficulty. SBCL on debian has blocking input in the terminal, and I am a little stuck as to how one would use a text editor while having to press enter after every keypress...
