On 21 January, two days after the commencement of a long-awaited ceasefire in Gaza, Israel launched a major military operation on Jenin in the occupied West Bank, raiding the city with troops, military vehicles, and bulldozers backed by airstrikes, drones, and Apache helicopters.
At least nine Palestinians have been killed and more than 40 wounded in the ongoing operation, according to the Ramallah-based Palestinian health ministry, which Israel has dubbed “Operation Iron Wall.”
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the goal of the “large scale and significant military operation” was to “to eradicate terrorism in Jenin.”
According to eyewitnesses and civilians inside the Jenin refugee camp, Israeli forces have laid siege to the camp and snipers are targeting anyone who tries to leave.
“People tried to escape from the camp amid the ongoing Israeli invasion, but only some were able to get out. Others remain stuck at the edges of the camp unable to leave,” Ahmad, a 26-year-old resident of the camp, told the news website Drop Site.
The invasion comes immediately after Palestinian Authority (PA) security forces - who have been besieging and attacking Jenin since early December - withdrew from the city.
Meanwhile, Israeli troops remain in Gaza amidst a shaky truce. Palestinians are now confronted with the daunting task of recovering bodies of loved ones buried beneath the rubble and rebuilding their destroyed homes and shattered lives. Israeli politicians continue to threaten an end to the ceasefire and a resumption of Israel’s brutal war on Gaza.
We call for:
- a permanent ceasefire and the withdrawal of all Israeli occupation forces from Gaza
- an end to Israel’s assault of Jenin
- a complete withdrawal of all Israeli occupation forces and settlers from the West Bank
- a two-way arms embargo on Israel
- diplomatic and trade sanctions on Israel now!

to all the comrades out there--
remember the long game. so many successful revolutions took a lot of time, organising, and lucky opportunities.
i'm declaring neoliberalism over, and whatever this new stage of capitalist imperialism is, is looking a LOT more hospitable to the chances of successful socialist revolution.
in some ways i am actually glad i spent pretty much all my life up until now under neoliberalism. i got pretty good at having low expectations about ever winning against australia's version of the two-party capitalist state.
Why the fuck do etsy stores think 20 bux is an appropriate shipping fee for a god darn enamel pin that fits inside an envelope.

Week 4
Language: FORTRAN

I was very excited about doing TCL this week, but I told myself the first time I get a two-dimensional array problem I'd go FORTRAN, so I guess this week is FORTRAN.
A friend of mine who did AOC2024 in December noted the early challenges this year were *very* easy. Today's definitely is. I wonder if part 2 will have any depth.
Breaking news: You can now buy my designs on aliexpress! I didn't put them there, I don't make anything from it, but that's where you can get them! (Do this if you like my work, but are a stout proponent of the `hunger content creator' philosophy)
In other news, the only place where I put wearable things, stickers, et al (and make coins) is https://analognowhere.redbubble.com
Now for the weather: You can sponsor my fedi-exclusive artistic endeavors by supporting me financially (and getting nothing extra) here: https://analognowhere.com/support
Blessed be your devices.
